Well, all must have read the current story of 94 year young Bhagwani Devi who won a bronze in shot put at the World Masters Athletics Championship in Tampers, Finland. When she was asked to react she said she did not like the colour of bronze. And, as luck would have it, she won a gold medal in the 100m sprint. Not satisfied with two medals, she won another bronze in the discus throw event.
Bhagwani Devi’s inspiration came from his grandson, who is a para athlete, and now her coach too.
Presently she is preparing for the next world championship.

94 वर्षीय भगवानी देवी को 3 अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय मेडल
देश ही नहीं, विदेश में भी भारत का नाम ऊंचा करने वाली 94 वर्षीय भगवानी देवी, जिन्हे ‘एथलेटिक्स की क्वीन’ भी कहा जाता हैं, ने फिनलैंड के टाम्परे में आयोजित वर्ल्ड मास्टर्स एथलेटिक्स चैंपियनशिप में गोल्ड मेडल जीता। उन्होंने 100 मीटर स्प्रिंट इवेंट में 24.74 सेकेंड के समय के साथ गोल्ड जीत कर देश का नाम रोशन किया है और वास्तव में इस फैक्ट को साबित किया है कि उम्र महज एक नंबर है।
भगवानी देवी ने शॉटपुट और डिसकस थ्रो में भी कांस्य पदक हासिल किया। यह प्रतियोगिता 29 जून से 10 जुलाई तक टाम्परे में आयोजित की गई थी। चैंपियनशिप 35 वर्ष और उससे अधिक उम्र (प्रत्येक पांच पांच वर्ष के ग्रुप में) के पुरुष तथा महिला एथलीटों के लिए आयोजित होती है।
